Koyo Yamazaki (1890-1979)
Koyo Yamazaki (山崎光洋) is a potter artist who was born in Ishikawa Prefecture. His name has been in existence for three generations since the Meiji era (1868-1912). He has supplied his works to the imperial family. He is known for his use of a variety of glazes to create colorful works of art.
This piece was inspired by old Chinese ceramics. The glaze is thickly applied, and the deep burgundy contrasts beautifully with the snowy white. It is an extremely fine example of his work.
This one is old but in very good condition.
