A French engraved decanter likely dating to before 1865 but after 1820 together with 8 matching glasses dating to around 1900 - 1920.
The decanter have many bobles and inpurities which suggest age before 1900.
Both the decanter and the glasses contain magnesium as they gets fluorescent under UV 365 nm light. Magnesium was used to clear glass from around 1820 until 1920, which dates the glasses to that period.
After the decanter was blown and cut from the stick, it was sanded in the bottom to remove traces of the blowing tube.
That technique was normally used until around 1865.
For above reasons we believe the decanter is from around 1850.
The glasses have the same engraved patterns as the decanter, but are believed to be from around 1900 to 1920 due to how they look at the bottom.
