賣家描述
- Material: Molded maple plywood
- Manufacturer: Vitra
- Year of Design / Year of Production: Designed in 1945, but this limited-edition plywood version was produced for the first time in 2007.
This is a limited-edition collector's item and is new and unopened. Numbered.
- Description: This is a highly sought-after collectible and one of only 1,000 limited-edition plywood elephants produced to commemorate Charles Eames' 100th birthday in 2007. It is available in red. Each piece comes in a special collector's box with a small, engraved aluminum plaque showing its unique serial number.
- Context: Charles and Ray Eames were fascinated by elephants and designed this playful plywood elephant in 1945. However, due to the technical challenges of its tight curves, it never went into mass production, and only two were ever made during their lifetime. To celebrate Charles Eames' 100th birthday in 2007, Vitra and the Eames Office collaborated to create a limited edition of the plywood elephant, marking the first time the piece was commercially produced. The successful reception led to the tooling being used to create a more affordable plastic version and, ten years later, to a full production run of the plywood elephant in American cherry. In 2020, to commemorate the elephant's 75th anniversary, Vitra launched another limited run of 999 pieces in a special grey-stained ash wood.
- Dimensions: 33.7 x 38.1 x 25.4 cm
- Certifiacte of Authenticity
