VITYRA - 薄夢
薄夢
Red ochre, caput mortuum, charcoal and ink on canvas
100cm x 140cm (39 inches x 55 inches)
薄夢 (Hakumu) — meaning “fading dream” in Japanese — unfolds like the trace of a vision dissolving at the edge of waking. In this work, contemporary artist VITYRA captures the subtle weight of memory as it ebbs into obscurity, leaving only the shadow of its presence.
Measuring 100 × 140 cm, the painting is composed of red ochre, caput mortuum, charcoal, and ink on canvas. Its surface is layered in muted tonalities — deep earthy violets sinking into darkness, faint red-brown hues that rise and recede, and wisps of shadow drifting like smoke across an impermanent field. The pigments bleed and disperse, resisting form, as if to remind us that nothing holds its shape for long.
薄夢 speaks of impermanence: the beauty of what cannot be grasped or retained. It is the dream that dissolves as one reaches for it, the quiet ache of transience that lingers longer than the dream itself.
As with all works by VITYRA, the piece belongs to the philosophy of wabi-sabi — an honoring of incompletion, impermanence, and the dignity of the unseen. 薄夢 is a vision not fully present, but not yet gone — a dream half-remembered, fading into shadow.
This original painting by VITYRA is discreetly hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube—an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm, with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
