Strand made of fifty-three selected ancient carnelian beads. Matched by tone and graduated. Sourced in Western Africa. Very nice beads with good transparencies and "red blood spots" (sign of ancienity) in some ones. Beads of this kind coming from Djenné excavations are dated from the 9 to 13th Centuries. Most of them were made in India and traded to Western Africa and Asia by Islamic merchants. Some may be African-made. Worn. Good condition. Collectible and useful as jewelry supplies.
