Russian Cloisonné Enamel Box with Double-Headed Eagle – Late 19th Century Beautiful rectangular metal box richly decorated with cloisonné enamel in vivid shades of red, blue, green, yellow, and white. The lid is centered with a striking Imperial double-headed eagle, symbol of the Russian Empire, surrounded by scrolling floral ornaments. The sides are equally adorned with fine enamel work in foliate and geometric motifs. The interior is metal with natural age patina. The underside is unmarked, which is not uncommon for pieces of this type and period. Good antique condition overall. Patina and minor enamel losses consistent with age. Dent visible on the back of the lid (see photos). Hinge and closure in working order. Will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered post with tracking.
