In the 21st century, Château Palmer conceived the idea of ​​reviving this forgotten tradition. Years ago, during a visit to a renowned collector in California, Thomas Duroux, the estate's director, had the rare opportunity to taste an 1869 Hermitage. The emotions felt that day in the presence of a wine over a century old found their full expression in the renaissance of Palmer's own Hermitage, the Historic Wine of the 19th Century. A truly historic wine, whose name honors the past of great Bordeaux wines.

But today, it's no longer simply about spicing up a lean Bordeaux to give it more power. Rather, it's about creating a unique wine, based on a blend of emblematic Château Palmer parcels, to which a superb Syrah from the northern slopes of the Rhône Valley is added in moderate proportions—the origin of which Thomas Duroux keeps secret.


But today, it's no longer just about enhancing a lean Bordeaux to give it more power. Delicate, leafy notes of red forest berry compote and floral nuances. Firm texture and pronounced tannins, yet mineral and still very young. Salty finish. An exotic wine, not necessarily for die-hard Bordeaux fans.
