賣家描述
A complete Art Deco to mid-century gentleman’s dress set by Austin Reed of Regent Street, London, preserved in its original blue fitted case and dating to around 1930–1950. Designed with the clean geometric lines associated with the interwar and early post-war period, the set reflects the understated elegance of formal eveningwear in mid-20th-century Britain.
The ensemble comprises two pairs of double cufflinks, four larger shirt studs and two smaller studs for the upper buttonholes or collar—forming a full dress set for a stiff-fronted evening shirt, suitable for black tie or white tie. Each piece features an octagonal plaque of finely polished white mother-of-pearl, displaying soft, controlled iridescence. The fronts are framed by slim borders of white-coloured metal, giving a crisp architectural edge, while the reverses and fittings are crafted in yellow base metal with a warm gold-tone finish. The cufflinks are linked by short chains, and the studs employ the traditional bar-and-loop mechanism designed to lock securely through a starched shirt front.
The original rectangular blue case, lined in cream velvet and satin, is printed “Austin Reed, Regent St, London”, anchoring the set to one of the best-known British menswear houses of the 20th century. As a period accessory, it sits comfortably in both historical and modern interiors and remains fully wearable today. It would also serve as a refined display object, suitable for collectors of English menswear, Art Deco design, or early mid-century fashion.
Larger stud fronts: approx. 11.7 × 11.7 mm
Smaller stud fronts: approx. 7 × 7 mm
Metal: base metal with gold-tone finish
Fronts: natural mother-of-pearl
The set is in very good vintage condition. The mother-of-pearl fronts are clean and intact, with no chips or cracks and only light surface wear visible under close inspection. The metal fittings are structurally sound, showing typical rubbing and patina to the gold-tone finish. The case opens and closes properly; the blue exterior shows small scuffs and edge wear, while the cream satin and velvet interior exhibits gentle age-related spotting but remains presentable. Overall, an attractive and complete example that presents beautifully in both use and display.
Please take time to view all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and provide an accurate representation of the item’s details and condition.
The shipping cost includes professional packaging, full insurance, and tracked delivery, ensuring the parcel reaches you safely and securely.
