Ancient Roman Silver Ring with Red Jasper Intaglio of Minerva
Circa 1st-3rd century AD
This fine silver ring is set with an oval red jasper intaglio engraved with the standing Minerva, helmeted and facing right, holding a spear. The stone sits in a raised oval collet within a gently expanded, ovoid bezel. The D-shaped hoop thickens at the shoulders and tapers towards the back.
Dimensions: 2,3cm x 2,3cm x 1cm
Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
