Complete departure from VANTA’s controlled removal work - “Reverie” embraces pure chance. Working on wet, unprimed canvas, the artist applied ink and let water do most of the work. The circular forms you see weren’t drawn or carved, they emerged naturally as ink spread across the damp surface, pooling and dispersing according to physics rather than artistic intention.
“Reverie” demanded surrender. VANTA set up conditions favorable to interesting results, then stepped back and let water carry the ink where it wanted to go. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki, the piece captures something you can’t force - the organic patterns that emerge when you give up control completely.
The unprimed canvas absorbed water and ink unevenly, creating soft edges and natural gradations impossible to achieve through direct application. Each dark circle formed where gravity and surface tension found equilibrium, creating a field of floating forms that feel discovered rather than designed. It’s process as subject matter - the painting is literally a record of how liquid moves across absorbent fabric.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Shipping:
The work is delivered without a frame (professional packaging, rolled in a tube). it can easily be restretched by a professional or on your own, this is also cheaper then the otherwise increased cost of shipping when sending paintings of this size stretched

measurements of the canvas are larger to allow it to be mounted on a frame 2-3cm thick.
