Chinese porcelain teapot -China- Qianlong period ca. 1750
On offer is a Chinese export porcelain teapot painted in underglaze blue and „bianco sopra bianco“ (white on white) pattern, over-painted in London ca. 1755 with polychrome enamels, in the James Giles workshop with the „stag hunt“ pattern. This pattern is illustrated in „the early James Giles and his contemporary London decorators“ by Stephen Hanscombe page 58 fig. 30-32.
Remarkable item. Provenance: Comes from our own private collection.
Date: Qianlong period 1736-1795 ca. 1750.
Size: Measures ca. 19 cm from ear to spout. Measures ca. 13cm in height. Belly measures ca. 11 cm across.
Condition: Reasonable to good; Restored to a high standard, invisible for the naked eye. Restoration consists of: re-attached ear and knob, 2 chips at end of spout. Further Belly and lid intact.
