Sano Kōsai is recognized as a master of contemporary Japanese metalwork, renowned for his meticulous and exceptional craftsmanship.
This incense burner has been beautifully adorned with hand-carved metalwork by a skilled artisan employing traditional techniques. On its sides, cranes are delicately engraved as if they were blossoms, and atop sits a solemnly poised turtle.
In Japan, the saying "Cranes live for a thousand years, turtles for ten thousand" reflects the belief in these creatures as auspicious symbols of longevity and prosperity.
The base of the piece is inscribed with "Kōsai," the artist's signature, guaranteeing its authenticity.
Overall, it is in good condition, but there are some areas of discoloration. Please refer to the photos for details.
