Bizen ware is celebrated for its natural beauty, durability, and unique finish that emerges from wood-firing techniques used in Okayama Prefecture for over a thousand years. Without glaze, the clay's interaction with flame and ash in the kiln gives each piece its exclusive earthen color and texture. The first piece is from Kimura Touhou, a name associated with the revered Kimura family, who established their pottery in 1913. The current head of the family and creator of this piece, Kimura Touhou, has been active since 1962 and is renowned for his tea ceramics and flower vases. His signature can be seen on the side of this beautifully crafted vase. Mugenan is a Bizen ware studio nestled in the verdant mountains of Bizen city, known for their dreamy interpretations of traditional Bizen styles. The second vase in this set bears the studio's pottery seal at the bottom and comes with the original wooden box, enhancing its value as a collectible. The third vase, though unsigned, carries the rustic charm inherent to Bizen ware. It does have a small chip on the lower edge, but this does not detract from the overall aesthetic and good condition of the piece.
