On a rich black lacquer ground, the delicate art of mother-of-pearl inlay brings each scene to life with shimmering detail. One side of the screen features a tranquil scene with a poised crane, symbolizing longevity and good fortune, alongside the blush of rose flowers, often associated with grace and warmth. Above, the robust blooms that resemble Magnolia kobus herald the onset of spring with their purity and resilience. Flip the screen to reveal a bustling narrative of nature on the other side. Each panel is a vignette of life and growth: sparrows perched on the branches of camellia and rose bushes, a favorite in traditional Japanese symbolism for the divine and the transient beauty of life, respectively. Also depicted is the Magnolia denudata, a tree revered for its early-blooming flowers, symbolizing nobility and perseverance. The surface shows signs of wear, with minor scratches and spots of lacquer loss, as well as some rust on the metal fittings. There is also a crack at the top part of the screen, attesting to its historical journey. Please examine the photos for details. The left and right sides of the bird and flower design can be folded inward, but the left and right sides of the opposite flower design cannot be folded inward. Dimensions: approx. H 122 cm W 114 cm D 8.5 cm (thickness when folded) ・Please make sure to review all the provided information and images before placing your bid. ・We make every effort to accurately represent the product's colors and textures in our photos.
