Schubladenkommode - Holz - Japan (Ohne Mindestpreis)

This is a Kamakura-bori small chest of drawers. It features boldly carved peony flowers, with lacquer coating applied to give it softness and warmth. Kamakura-bori is a traditional craft that involves shaping wood, such as horse chestnut or ginkgo, carving patterns into it, and finishing it with lacquer. Its origins can be traced back to the Kamakura period when Buddhist craftsmen produced Buddhist altar articles. Additionally, Kamakura-bori, with its exceptional carvings and multiple layers of lacquer, is highly durable and long-lasting. Lacquerware believed to be from the Kamakura period was excavated from the old Kamakura city area in almost perfect condition. According to experts, this preservation can be attributed to the preservative effects of lacquer-derived components and the process of layering lacquer, which creates strength, allowing the lacquerware to remain intact underground for many years without decay. Height 25.6 cm Width 30.3 cm Depth 21.8 cm Weight: 2300 kg Condition: The condition is generally good. There are scratches, dirt, abrasions, peeling, and peeling. I have posted a lot of photos, so please take a look. Atention: The items listed for sale are all used collectibles.
