In The Heart Of The Sofa This painting depicts the sofa where I experienced my first kiss. Shown in the Bridewell Studios Gallery as part of my solo exhibition With Art as My Shadow, and presented within the Liverpool Biennial, the work removes the object from its original domestic setting and translates it into paint, allowing it to function as a quiet witness to an intimate moment of emotional awakening. The sofa becomes both a physical place and a psychological anchor, holding memory, vulnerability, and the intensity of first love. By isolating and reworking it, the piece reflects on how ordinary objects absorb personal histories, becoming charged with meaning long after the moment itself has passed. The work explores themes of memory, nostalgia, and how early experiences continue to linger as shadows throughout later life. #dopamine
