Nakamura Yohei is a Kyoto ware artist who works across a wide range of techniques and styles, including Ninsei-style reproductions, Mishima, Kohiki, and Tenmoku tea bowls.
This Tenmoku tea bowl displays kiln transformation effects created during firing, a phenomenon known as “yohen.”
It is generally referred to as an “Yuteki Tenmoku,” and features bluish tones appearing in various areas, creating a distinctive surface appearance.
The wooden box bears an inscription in red lacquer by Sokuchusai, the 13th generation grand master of the Omotesenke school of tea ceremony, one of the most authoritative tea schools, distinguishing this work from others.
