This lot consists of a set of two studio pottery tea bowls created by different Japanese ceramic artists.

One of the tea bowls is a work by the Japanese ceramic artist Kaiho Yagi, and comes with a signed original wooden storage box (tomobako) as well as an artist biography document.

Both pieces are characterized by the natural variations in glaze produced during the firing process, displaying subtle gradations ranging from warm earthy tones to deeper, more subdued hues.

The flowing glaze and kiln effects create rich surface expressions that reflect traditional Japanese ceramic aesthetics and highlight the unique charm of handmade studio pottery.

Slight irregularities or asymmetry in the form of the bowls are inherent to the hand-forming process and represent part of the artist’s intended style, rather than defects or deformation.

Both tea bowls are fully glazed on the interior, making them suitable for practical use as tea ceremony utensils, while also serving as decorative objects.

The base of the tea bowl by Kaiho Yagi bears the artist’s impressed seal.

■ Dimensions (approx.)

Tea Bowl 1 (Kaiho Yagi)
• Diameter: approx. 11.5–12 cm
• Height: approx. 8 cm

Tea Bowl 2
• Diameter: approx. 12–12.5 cm

No noticeable cracks or structural damage were observed.
Please refer to the photos for a detailed assessment of the condition.
