Model History:
The Seiko Bell-Matic is one of the most technically interesting watches of the 1970s. Introduced in 1966, it was among the first mass-produced automatic wristwatches with a mechanical alarm complication.
Powered by the in-house Seiko 4006 movement, the Bell-Matic combines automatic winding, day-date display and an internal rotating alarm ring. It represents Seiko’s peak mechanical innovation era, just before the Quartz revolution. This example, produced in April 1974, belongs to the later production period of the 4006 series and features the classic black sunburst dial configuration.

Condition:
Overall nice vintage condition. The stainless steel case shows some wear. The dial presents a beautiful black sunburst finish with mild patina and minor hairline marks, visible mainly under close inspection and strong light. A new crystal has been fitted and is completely scratch-free. The alarm ring is not original to this specific watch, it has been replaced by an alarm ring from another Bell-Matic model. The movement has been serviced and functions properly, including the alarm mechanism.
