Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Κλασική πεϊκή ράβδος με λαβή από ασημένιο χιτώνα – χαραγμένα σήματα – 90 cm

Elegant antique walking cane featuring a beautifully engraved sterling silver handle with rich scrolling acanthus decoration. The handle has a rounded “mushroom” form, typical of late Victorian and Edwardian gentleman’s canes.

The silver mount is hallmarked, although the marks are partially worn and not fully legible. The lion passant can still be clearly seen, indicating sterling silver, and the London assay mark is also visible. The maker’s mark appears to read “E.N.”, attributed to Edward Newton, a British silversmith active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century whose workshop produced silver-mounted items such as walking cane handles, umbrella mounts and small accessories.

The shaft is made from a warm honey-coloured hardwood with an attractive natural grain and patina developed over time. The cane is fitted with a rubber ferrule. The overall length is approximately 90 cm.
The silver handle is richly chased with scrolling foliate ornament and shows the craftsmanship typical of British silver-mounted canes from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century.

The cane remains in good antique condition with age-related wear. The silver handle shows visible dents, including one to the side and slight denting to the top, consistent with age and use. The wooden shaft shows minor surface marks and a natural patina developed over time.

A decorative and collectible London hallmarked sterling silver mounted walking cane, attributed to Edward Newton, ideal for collectors of antique canes, British silver, or historical gentlemen’s accessories.
