A rare Balinese lontar manuscript in the traditional format, made of narrow palm leaves with wooden covers and cord binding. The leaves are decorated with finely incised and darkened mythological and epic scenes featuring human figures, animals, and ornamental motifs. Handwritten text in traditional script appears on the reverse side.

Such manuscripts were traditionally used in Bali for literary, religious, and epic texts. This example is of interest both as a collectible Asian manuscript and as a decorative ethnographic object.
