In the 1970s Gijsbert Hanekroot worked as a free-lance photographer based in Amsterdam where he had a studio (Berenstraat 18). His main assigment was bi-weekly music paper Muziekkrant Oor (Ear), but he also worked for daily newspapers and magazines. He did concerts, interviews, press receptions and studio shoots. It were the golden years of rock music where the big names made their first and second albums, hard working to break through.

Recently Gijsberts photos were shown in exhibitions in a.o. Paris, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Beograd and Amsterdam. He also published several books.
