The Longines Conquest line, introduced in 1954, was one of the brand’s first fully unified collections, combining durability with refined design. By the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Conquest models underwent a noticeable stylistic evolution, moving toward sharper case shapes and cleaner, more modern dials while maintaining their reputation as reliable everyday watches.
This reference 1557-1 is a representative example from that transitional period, featuring a manual-wind movement with date complication, allowing for a slimmer and more elegant profile compared to automatic versions. The angular tonneau-style case, paired with a white sunburst dial and applied baton indices, reflects the early 1970s design direction.

Condition:
The watch is in very nice vintage condition with a clean and well-preserved overall appearance. The stainless steel case retains its strong, angular lines with a combination of brushed and polished finishes, showing only light signs of wear consistent with age. The dial is particularly attractive, with a well-preserved sunburst finish and only minimal signs of aging. The applied indices remain crisp, with slight patina visible on some lume plots.
