A superb and diverse collection of 25 authentic Victorian-era black glass buttons, often referred to as "Black Jet Glass." These buttons were the pinnacle of 19th-century mourning fashion, popularized by Queen Victoria.
Each button is a product of high-quality Bohemian craftsmanship (modern-day Czech Republic) from the 19th century. They were produced using the press-molded glass technique, featuring intricate relief designs.
The collection features a sophisticated variety of patterns, including:
-Lustre Finishes: Some pieces exhibit a stunning "silver lustre" or "gunmetal" coating, giving the glass a metallic, reflective sheen.
-Geometric & Radial: Intricate "Starburst" and "Sunray" patterns.
-Textural Patterns: High-relief "Basketweave" and "Woven" motifs.
-Floral Accents: Stylized rosettes and petal-like decorations.
The collection is in excellent antique condition. Some pieces may show minor age-related wear (tiny flea bites or surface scratches), which adds to their authentic antique character.
