Item Description
泰田久史 Yasuda Hisashi — "岳映 / Takebae" — Inspired by Mount Fuji Fujiyama, Flower Vase

This striking sculptural vase, titled Takebae (岳映 — "Mountain Reflection"), is one of the signature works from the celebrated Takebae series by Hisashi Yasuda, a celebrated Japanese ceramic artist from Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture.
The piece is an embodiment of Japan's most iconic and sacred mountain — Mount Fuji Fujiyama — rendered in ceramic form.
The silhouette of the vase evokes the majestic profile of Mount Fuji, and the breathtaking gradation of color — from deep midnight blue at the base, transitioning through vibrant cobalt blue to soft white at the peak — captures the snow-capped summit with poetic precision.
The surface is entirely matte and rough to the touch, giving it the raw, elemental texture of volcanic stone and perfectly evoking the feel of the mountain itself.
The irregular, asymmetrical opening at the top, resembling a snow-cut ridge, adds a dynamic sculptural quality rarely seen in traditional vases.
The artist's seal is carved into the base, and the piece comes with its original Wooden Plate, bearing the inscription: Takebae (岳映), Member of the Japan Modern Crafts Association, Hachiyaemon Kiln, Hisashi Yasuda.
A true collector's piece that bridges the worlds of fine art and functional ceramics — one that brings the spirit of Fujiyama into your home.
