These two seemingly unrelated events are linked in Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Set in Hollywood in 1969, the film revolves around a fictional actor and stuntman, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and follows a series of events involving many celebrities.
Among the star-studded cast is an unexpected highlight: the gold watch on Cliff Booth’s (Brad Pitt) wrist. This watch/strap combination evokes Paul Newman’s style and complements Cliff’s McQueen-esque tough persona; complete with his aviator glasses, Hawaiian shirt worn over a Champion t-shirt, and faded jeans. The "Bullhead" Citizen Challenge Timer chronograph watch features a gold-toned case and a gold panda dial with a black tachymeter. This is the perfect watch for Cliff’s character, who might be seen wearing a lesser-known brand like Citizen at the time.
However, this particular Citizen watch wasn’t available in 1969; the flyback 8110 caliber was introduced in 1972. Thanks to the film’s director and Brad Pitt, this watch became legendary and received the recognition it deserved.
