This is a miniature “Senju Kosode Tansu” chest made in Kyoto. It was produced during the Showa period by Fujino Metal Industry, a company that once operated in Kyoto and is no longer in business, making this a rare and no-longer-produced piece.
The chest is made from beautiful Japanese Sen wood, known for its elegant grain and warm texture. The handles and metal fittings feature traditional Edo-period designs, such as dragonfly cross motifs, T-shaped fittings, and folded plate hardware, faithfully reproducing historical craftsmanship.
A carrying handle is attached to the top for portability. Opening the double doors reveals four drawers arranged in three tiers inside, along with an additional drawer at the bottom. This is a refined Japanese chest that combines both functionality and decorative beauty.
