Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Τ four porcelain plates designed by Simon de Boer for Goedewaagen, under the label Flora, Nieuwe Stukken by Simon de Boer in 1994. All plates are in good vintage shape. One has small cracks in glaze (visible on pictures). Original bill on 348 Dutch Guldens included. Some pictures from magazine articles from that times are added for impression, and they are not part of the lot.

Between 1989 and 1994, Simon de Boer worked on a dinner service. Because he was the first to design a soup plate, he chose to design a soup service: a small number of pieces also fit better with the budgets available to the still-young designer.

Simon de Boer wanted to create a different kind of soup plate, breaking with the tradition of a uniform rim and a dimple in the middle. He sought a fusion of form and content; the groove ensures that the soup breaks through the rim.

The soup tureen has a base approximately 10 cm above the table. You cannot see this because the tureen continues seamlessly on the outside. The space between the table and the base is intended for a tea light, which keeps the soup warm. The oval perforations all around allow for oxygen but also serve a decorative function: they add atmosphere to the table. The handle on the lid has a slanted surface so that the lid, when inverted, does not roll off the table but stands firmly in an angled position, preventing condensation on the inside of the lid from wetting the table.

A salt and pepper set was also designed. Wooden stoppers follow the lines of the earthenware; they are necessary so that the horizontal 'containers' can be filled. The pepper shaker has six holes, the salt shaker five.

A novelty is the 'servetublie': a kind of cone in which you can place a napkin to make the table extra festive.

Simon de Boer commissioned the Dutch ceramics factory Goedewaagen to produce the tableware. Goedewaagen, which was looking to rejuvenate its product range, also invested in the production itself. The soup set was released under the label Flora, Nieuwe Stukken by Simon de Boer. The tableware was sold in shops and galleries in the Netherlands and Belgium.
