3 Well preserved trilobite’s. 2 Collected in 1917 in Germany - excavation photographs, coordinates and date included. 1 Specimen well preserved from same collection but with unknown origin and dating. See infos below:

2 Trilobites excavated in the German Eifel:

Object type: Trilobite on matrix & enrolled small trilobite
Scientific name / identification: Proetus (Gerastos) cuvieri

Geological age / period: Middle Devonian, Eifelian
Country of origin / locality: Germany, Eifel, Gerolstein-Gees, “Trilobitenfelder,” Ahrdorf Beds / Ahrdorf Formation (according to seller; not independently verified geologically)

Dimensions: trilobite approximately 2.2 cm
Condition: old find

Observed condition: Small enrolled trilobite on light matrix. Overall anatomically plausible and visually appealing, but with visible shell flaking and minor preservation issues, especially around the cephalon and some segmented areas. Preparation appears generally decent, relatively restrained, and fairly natural in character.

Special observations: Enrolled posture with good three-dimensional appeal; parts of the brown glossy shell are preserved. An attractive collector’s specimen despite not being top-grade in preservation. The relatively limited preparation contributes to its natural overall appearance.

Additional collector information: According to the collector, the specimen was found in 1917, shortly the locality had been placed under protection in 1938, in spoil from earlier diggers’ pits. The reported locality is Gerolstein-Gees, “Trilobitenfelder,” Middle Devonian, Eifelian, Ahrdorf Beds. Coordinates of approximately 50.220580 N / 6.688415 E were also provided.

Collection context / additional provenance material: The specimen is accompanied by historical photographs of trilobite collecting at the same locality dating to 1918, recent comparison images of the site, collector boxes with labels, and a traceable specimen attribution within the transmitted collection context. These materials support the provenance and contextual placement of the specimen within an older collection history.

Confidence in provenance: high
Confidence in authenticity: high
_____

Unknown trilobite probably German excavation find too (dark matrix):

Scientific name / identification: Trilobita indet.
Geological age / period: unknown
Country of origin / locality: unknown

Dimensions: trilobite approximately 1.5–1.8 cm; matrix approximately 4–5 cm
Condition: old collection, fine

Observed condition: Small trilobite on dark matrix, partially prepared and overall clearly visible. The specimen appears stable and visually appealing, but lacks any secure locality data or stratigraphic documentation. Preparation appears decent, though fairly simple.

Special observations: Good contrast between fossil and matrix; compact presentation on a small slab. Scientific value is clearly limited by the lack of locality and identification data.

Additional information: Unfortunately without locality; stated to come from a very old collection / collection specimen
