“Asclepios” (ή Asclepius) είναι μια φημισμένη γλυπτική του 1988, δημιουργημένη από τον εξαιρετικό Πολωνό καλλιτέχνη Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014).
Το έργο ενσωματώνει τέλεια τη στυλιστική υπογραφή του δασκάλου, εκφραζόμενη μέσα από μια ποιητική που συνδυάζει την κλασική ομορφιά με την ευαλωτότητα της ανθρώπινης μορφής.
Απεικονίζει ένα θραύσμα προτομής ανδρός χωρίς κεφάλι και χέρια, εμπνευσμένο από τον Ασκληπιό, τον ελληνικό θεό της ιατρικής και της ίασης.
Το σχήμα θυμίζει την ιδανική τελειότητα της αρχαίας αγαλματοποιίας αλλά ταυτοχρόνως δείχνει τη φθορά και τη χρονική ζημιά.
Στο θώρακα φαίνονται δύο τετράγωνα ένθετα (ένα στη κλειβίκοφλη και ένα στο στήθος). Αυτή η γεωμετρική προσθήκη είναι υπογραφή χαρακτηριστική του καλλιτέχνη, που δημιουργεί μια σουρεαλιστική και σύγχρονη σχισμή στην λεία επιφάνεια.

Αυτό το υπέροχο και σπάνιο γλυπτό από μπρούντζο με πατίνα του Δάσκαλου Igor Mitoraj, σε περιορισμένη παραγωγή, θα αποσταλεί με ασφάλιση παγκοσμίως.

“Asclepios” (or Asclepius) is a famous 1988 sculpture by the extraordinary Polish artist Igor Mitoraj (1944–2014).
The work perfectly embodies the master's stylistic signature, expressed through a poetics that combines classical beauty with the vulnerability of the human form.
It depicts a fragmented male bust without a head or arms, inspired by Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing.
The figure recalls the ideal perfection of ancient statuary but at the same time shows its degradation and temporal damage.
Two square inserts are visible on the torso (one on the clavicle and one on the chest). This geometric graft is a signature typical of the artist, creating a surreal and contemporary split on the polished surface.
