Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Exceptional collection of 11 hand-carved stone sculptures depicting stylized African female and male busts. Each piece features distinctive facial expressions, elaborate hairstyles, and traditional headwear inspired by African tribal art.

These sculptures are carved from natural soapstone (steatite), likely the well-known “Pierre de Mbigou” from Gabon. The natural veining, coloration, and finish are consistent with hand-carved stone craftsmanship.

The artistic style is reminiscent of the famous Punu masks of Gabon, characterized by elegant facial proportions, almond-shaped eyes, and sophisticated coiffures.

Period: Estimated vintage production dating from the mid-20th century, approximately 1970.

Material: Hand-carved soapstone (steatite).

Origin: Gabon, Central Africa.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear, patina, minor imperfections, and occasional small chips consistent with age and use. Please refer to photographs for details.

Decorative and Functional Uses

Beyond their artistic and collectible value, these versatile pieces can be used as:

* Decorative bookends
* Table number holders for restaurants, weddings, and events
* Menu holders for cafés, hotels, and restaurants
* Business card holders
* Display stands for information cards, labels, or price tags
* Ethnic and contemporary interior design accents

Each sculpture is unique, making this collection particularly attractive for collectors of African art, interior designers, hospitality professionals, and lovers of tribal-inspired décor.
