Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή
Vintage Marlboro "MONITAL" Industrial Brass Printing Plate / Hot Stamping Matrix - Italian State Monopoly (Monopolio di Stato), 1970s
An exceptional piece of industrial tobacco history.
This is an authentic, heavy vintage brass printing plate (hot stamping matrix/die mold) used for the licensed production and packaging of Marlboro cigarettes in Italy. The plate features a deeply engraved, mirrored cutout of the iconic "Marlboro" typography alongside the brand’s distinctive crown/crest logo.
Beneath the main branding, it bears the engraving "MONITAL"—the historical telegraphic acronym for the Monopolio di Stato (Italian State Tobacco Monopoly).
During the mid-to-late 20th century, the Italian State Monopoly manufactured and packaged Marlboro locally under strict license from Philip Morris. This thick, solid brass block was utilized in heavy industrial mechanical presses to stamp, emboss, or hot-foil print the branding elements onto packaging materials before they were folded into boxes.
Industrial production plates for major global brands are rare, as manufacturing tools are typically discarded, recycled, or destroyed by factories once production cycles end.
A fantastic display piece for collectors of Tobacciana, industrial design, or advertising history.
Condition: Good, authentic vintage state with minor signs of industrial use and age-related wear.
Surface: Minor surface scratches and natural brass oxidation/patina, particularly around the recessed lettering, which adds to its industrial character. No deep structural damage or warp.
Dimensions: 18.0 cm x 10.0 cm x 0.6 cm
Weight: Approx. 740 grams
