This work was among the first anatomical atlases ever produced entirely by lithography allowing exceptional precision and realism in depicting the human body
Published in Brussels by Auguste Wahlen with plates lithographed by Charles de Lasteyrie a pioneer of early scientific printing in France

The lot includes 8 large original plates from Volume I depicting
the skull and cranial bones the spine and vertebrae the shoulder girdle and back muscles the pelvis and sacrum the bones and articulations of the limbs and the musculature of the lower limbs and feet
Each plate printed on thick wove paper with the artists and lithographers signatures such as E Dumenil del Lith de Deroy or de Lasteyrie
