A rare limited edition of the portable collection of post-war and contemporary art La Lune en Rodage III. This is an unnumbered copy of 230 editions (65 hors commerce were unnumbered) and part of the third serie of the La Lune en Rodage books. La Lune en Rodage was published in three volumes in 1960, 1965 and 1977 containing a total of approximately 180 art pieces which provide an account of the artistic avant-garde scene between the 1950s and 1970s. The art works were gathered by Carl Laslzo and included the greatest artists of the time who contributed with important pieces, often marking a turning point in their production and carriers: Enrico Castellani’s work for example is his first documented graphic work and Piero Manzoni's multiple Achrome is the only one produced by the artist.
Lothar Schreyer studied initially art history at the University of Heidelberg, then law in Berlin and Leipzig. In 1910 he earned his PhD on literary and artistic co-authorship rights. He began to work as a writer and simultaneously trained under Emil Milan in theater direction. Between 1911 and 1918 he worked as dramaturge and assistant director at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. He also held the editorial leadership of Herwarth Waldens magazine Der Sturm between 1916 and 1928. At the same time he taught until 1924 at the Sturm-Schule for stage art and pantomime. In 1918 Schreyer co-founded with Herwarth Walden the expressionist Sturm-Bühne, which he led until 1921. During this time Schreyer's first plays were staged (e.g., Kreuzigung, Kindssterben).
In 1921 Schreyer was summoned by Walter Gropius as master and head of the Bühnenwerkstatt to the Staatliche Bauhaus Weimar and taught there until 1923. After the failure of his production Mondspiel he left the Bauhaus. Through the mediation of Adolf Behne he took up a position at the Zentralinstitut für Erziehung und Unterricht in Berlin. In 1924 he became a member of the committee for the founding of the Waldorfschule in Berlin and thereafter until 1927 served briefly as head of the art school Der Weg in Berlin. From 1928 to 1932 he was chief editor and head editor for culture and fine literature of the Hanseatische Verlagsanstalt in Hamburg. After converting to Catholicism in 1933 Schreyer worked under the pseudonym Angelus Pauper as a writer and wrote for the Caritasverlag Heiligenlegenden among other things. After 1945 he published for the Herder Verlag and was involved with the Caritas organization. Until his death in 1966 he worked as a painter.
