Dial and Hands
The dial of this Seikomatic is a visual delight, featuring a brilliant silver sunburst finish that radiates beautifully under the light. It is adorned with applied, faceted baton indices featuring dark central inserts that provide excellent contrast and legibility. The dial layout is highly distinctive, boasting a framed date aperture at the three o'clock position and a beautifully integrated, full-word day window at six o'clock, proudly displaying Sunday in striking red typography. The elegant cursive Seikomatic script and crisp black printed text remain perfectly intact. The classic Dauphine hands mirror the indices with matching dark central accents. Condition-wise, the dial is exceptionally well-preserved, showing a clean, even texture with no significant spots or damage, while the hands exhibit only minor, honest oxidation visible under magnification, entirely consistent with a carefully kept vintage timepiece.
Case and Crystal
The 37 millimeter stainless steel case embodies the refined architectural lines of 1960s Seiko design. The case features a smooth, polished bezel and robust lugs that retain their sharp factory chamfers and distinct profile, showing only normal, honest signs of wear without heavy polishing. The crown is thoughtfully recessed at the four o'clock position, maintaining the watch's sleek, uninterrupted silhouette. Turning the watch over reveals a highly legible caseback featuring the iconic Seiko Dolphin engraving, alongside clearly defined reference and serial numbers. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that protects the dial perfectly, displaying only light surface wear indicative of careful previous use.
Movement
Powering this Weekdater is the gold-toned Seiko automatic caliber 6206A, featuring 26 jewels. The movement is visually striking, with its golden plates and rotor bearing clear, crisp Seiko engravings. While the outer movement ring shows expected age-related tarnish, the caliber itself remains bright and well-kept. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher result reads 55 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is paired with a period-appropriate black textured leather strap. The strap features a distinct woven or reptile-style embossed pattern with contrasting white stitching, complementing the vintage aesthetic of the dial and case perfectly.
Condition
This timepiece is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is stunningly preserved, serving as the centerpiece of the watch with its crisp sunburst finish and clean layout. The stainless steel case remains sharp and well-defined, and the deeply engraved dolphin caseback is wonderfully intact.

History
Introduced in the early 1960s, the Seikomatic line represented Seiko's premier range of automatic watches before the widespread dominance of the Grand Seiko and King Seiko automatic models. The Weekdater, with its innovative day and date layout, was crafted for the rising class of business professionals, offering a sophisticated look combined with robust daily reliability. The dolphin caseback became a symbol of Seiko's advancing water-resistance technology, marking an era where elegant dress watches were increasingly built to withstand the rigors of everyday life.
