Β based on the Seiko serial number system, this watch is believed to have been produced in December 1975. As the serial number is 0244, it appears to be an early production example.

The watch is powered by Seiko Cal. 0852, a high-grade 32,768 Hz quartz movement used for date-only King Quartz models.

The 0852 King Quartz models were produced for a relatively short period before the later Twin Quartz models appeared, making them an interesting and collectible generation within Seiko’s high-grade quartz history.

This was a period when high-grade Japanese quartz watches were still made with a very careful and luxurious approach. The Cal. 0852 is appreciated by collectors as one of the refined early King Quartz movements, from an era when quartz watches could still be finely adjusted with a trimmer.

The dial has a beautiful silver-tone textured finish with a clean date-only layout. The applied Seiko logo, King Quartz text, faceted indexes and the King Quartz emblem at 6 o’clock give the watch a refined and elegant appearance.
