Vintage Large Hermle "Schwebe-Anker" Westminster Mantel Clock (1968) - For Restoration / Parts

Up for auction is a stately, large-scale German mantel clock manufactured by the renowned makers Franz Hermle & Söhne (FHS) in 1968. This is an iconic Mid-Century Modern / late Art Deco style "Napoleon hat" or tambour-shaped clock, measuring an impressive 68.5 cm in length.

The clock is being sold strictly as a restoration project, suitable for watchmakers, hobbyists, or for spare parts.

Technical Details & Specifications:
- Brand: Franz Hermle & Söhne (FHS)
- Mechanism Model: 340-020 (Two 2 Jewels)
- Year of Manufacture: 1968 (Stamped '68' on the backplate)
- Escapement Type: Patented "Schwebe-Anker" (Floating Balance) system
- Chime Type: 5-rod Westminster chime (strikes every quarter-hour and counts the hours)
- Shut-off Function: Includes an integrated chime-silent lever on the movement
- Quality Stamp: The inside of the rear wooden door features the historical triangular "Gütezeichen 1" (First Quality/Export grade control stamp) and serial number 1/62/3.

Condition Report :
- Body / Case: The wooden case is structurally sound and complete, but shows cosmetic wear, minor veneer scuffs, and age-related scratches consistent with its age. It retains a very nice original patina.
- Dial & Glass: The wooden dial face is in good vintage condition with raised golden Roman numerals. The brass bezel holds the original curved convex glass intact.
- Movement: The brass mechanism is fully original, intact, and visually very clean. All gears and the floating balance wheel are present. However, because it has been stored unused for a long time, the movement is currently NOT running and needs a professional clean, fresh lubrication, and mechanical adjustment.
- Winding Key: Not included.

This is a fantastic, high-quality base project to restore a premium XXL German timepiece back to its former glory.

The product will be professionally packed and sent safely to your address by local post.
The pictures of the product are made with the highest possible resolution, precisely to capture possible small defects (small scratches, stains, defect), the pictures are part of the product description.
