Hand-signed. Mounted with passepartout.
Sheet size: 23 x 30 cm.
In an antique frame with glass, size: 38 x 28,5 cm.
Kohlhoff belongs to the so-called "Verschollenen Generation" and his style falls within the "Expressiven Realismus" movement: is a key German artist for understanding the transition between classical expressionism and the realist movements of the interwar period. His work is distinguished by its emotional power, energetic strokes and a profoundly subjective vision of reality.
His early expressive works were considered "degenerate" by the Nazis, and in 1937 eight of them were confiscated from public collections as part of the "Degenerate Art" campaign. Other missing works are listed in the LOST Art database of the German Foundation for Lost Art.
A magnificent foreshortened nude by the German artist. Very few of his engravings exist.
