Offered is a fine wooden presentation bowl from the Lake Sentani region, West Papua, Indonesia.
We were fortunate to acquire this piece directly in the 1990s. Since then, it has been part of our private collection.
The bowl has a strong sculptural presence and shows an attractive surface patina from age and traditional use. Objects of this type were part of ceremonial and social life in the Lake Sentani area.
A fine and authentic example of New Guinea material culture, appealing to collectors of Oceanic and ethnographic art.
