The Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6D is a compact, lightweight autofocus standard zoom for the Nikon F mount. As a D-type lens it relays focus-distance information for accurate metering; as a screw-drive AF lens it focuses on Nikon bodies with a built-in AF motor.
Mount & Compatibility
IMPORTANT — This is a screw-drive (AF, non-AF-S) Nikon F-mount lens. It has NO built-in focus motor and relies on the camera body's in-body AF motor.
Autofocus works only on Nikon bodies that have a built-in AF motor (film AF bodies, and DSLRs such as the D7x00 / D500 / D6xx / D7xx / D8xx / D1-D6 series). On motor-less bodies (D3000 and D5000 series, Df without motor models, etc.) the lens mounts and meters but operates in MANUAL FOCUS only.
On Nikon Z mirrorless via FTZ, this lens is manual-focus only (the FTZ has no screw-drive coupling).
