Offered here is an authentic original Japanese enamel (porcelain) advertising sign that was displayed at licensed tobacco retailers during the late Showa period, around 1989.

This sign informed customers that the shop accepted Japanese Tobacco Gift Vouchers, a payment and gift system that was once widely used throughout Japan but has long since disappeared.

Unlike modern reproductions, this is an original store display sign that was actually used outdoors. It was never sold to the general public and was distributed only to authorized tobacco retailers, making surviving examples increasingly difficult to obtain.

The double-sided design allowed it to be mounted perpendicular to storefronts, ensuring visibility from both directions.

Its bold red, white and blue graphics are an iconic example of late Showa-era Japanese commercial design.
