Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Collection of Medieval Islamic Silver Coins – Mongol, Timurid, Turkmen, Safavid & Afsharid Dynasties

A fine and diverse collection of original medieval and early modern Islamic silver coins representing several important dynasties that ruled Persia and Central Asia over nearly six centuries.

The collection includes coins from the Ilkhanid (Mongol), Timurid, Turkmen (Aq Qoyunlu and/or Qara Qoyunlu), Safavid, and Afsharid periods. Most coins bear clear Arabic or Persian inscriptions, with the mint name and date of issue visible, making them valuable for historical and numismatic research.

Several pieces have been re-struck or overstruck, a common historical practice in Islamic coinage during periods of political transition and monetary reform. These features enhance their historical significance and provide insight into changing authorities and mints.

The coins are offered as found, showing natural circulation wear, toning, and signs of age consistent with centuries of use. Overall, the inscriptions remain attractive and many pieces retain good legibility.
