Brand / Maker: Tachikichi (est. 1752, Kyoto), signed Ryugetsu
Title: Flower Vase (Hanaire) — Pear-Shaped Form with Soft Pastel Kiln-Effect Glaze in Green, Pink and Amber, with Original Signed Wooden Box

This is an elegant Japanese ceramic flower vase from Tachikichi, one of Kyoto's most prestigious tableware houses, bearing the maker's signature "Ryugetsu." It has a graceful pear-shaped body with a flared trumpet mouth, finished in a soft, atmospheric glaze, and comes complete with its original signed wooden box (tomobako).

About the Brand — Tachikichi
Founded in Kyoto in 1752, Tachikichi (Tachikichi / Kikkichi) is a long-established house with over 270 years of history, renowned throughout Japan for curating and producing the finest Japanese ceramics. Tachikichi is especially celebrated for its flower vessels and for employing advanced glaze techniques — such as crystalline glazes and underglaze silver — that transform each piece into an individual work of art. A vase carrying the Tachikichi name and its original box is recognized as a quality piece and is well regarded as a gift.

About the Glaze and Form
The vase is covered in a beautiful kiln-effect glaze: over a soft matte cream ground, gentle clouds of green, coral pink, and warm amber melt into one another, creating a dreamy, watercolor-like surface. This kind of nuanced, flowing coloration is produced by the interaction of glaze and fire in the kiln, so that no two pieces are ever exactly alike — each has its own unique expression. The elegant pear silhouette with its slender neck and flared rim gives the piece a refined, classical presence, making it as much a decorative art object as a functional vessel.

Condition
In wonderful condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, or damage. A beautiful piece. Please review all photos, which form part of the description.

Presentation & Appeal
Complete with its original signed tomobako, which adds to the collectible value and makes it ideal as a gift. As a hanaire (flower vase), it is well suited to ikebana, single-stem arrangements, or interior display in an entrance, tokonoma alcove, or living space. It will appeal to admirers of Japanese ceramics, Kyoto craft, and the Tachikichi brand, as well as anyone seeking an elegant Japanese interior accent.
