Dial and Hands
The dial of this Rado Ticino is an absolute visual standout, featuring a deep, vertical linear texture that creates a dynamic play of light, shifting between rich hues of taupe, brown, and subtle metallic purple. The dial is in stunning condition, remaining exceptionally clean and free from moisture spots, stains, or print loss. It is adorned with applied, faceted silver-tone indices featuring white painted centers, alongside the iconic rotating Rado anchor logo positioned at twelve o'clock over a deep red background. The applied block RADO typography and elegant white printed Ticino script at six o'clock remain perfectly crisp. A framed date aperture at three o'clock displays striking red numerals. The original baton hands feature black central stripes with intact luminous material at the tips, matching the overall aesthetic and showing only very light, even aging consistent with the watch's era.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm stainless steel case features a distinctive tonneau profile with a strong, architectural presence on the wrist. The case retains its factory-intended geometry, highlighting a sharp transition between the vertically brushed upper surfaces and the highly polished sloped flanks. Honest signs of vintage wear, including light surface scratches and minor scuffs on the polished bevels, are visible but do not detract from the watch's highly attractive overall appearance. The original Rado-signed crown, featuring the anchor emblem, is present and sits flush against the case. The screw-down caseback is deeply engraved with the classic Rado Water-Sealed seahorse medallion and reference numbers, remaining crisp and well-defined. The crystal protects the dial securely and presents clearly, offering an unobstructed view of the intricate dial texture beneath.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is a robust Swiss automatic movement, based on the highly reliable ETA Caliber 2824. The movement is fully signed with Rado branding on the rotor and features 25 jewels, as clearly visible in the provided close-up images. The mechanism presents beautifully, with a clean base plate and well-preserved components. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher results indicate a superb performance of +4s to +6s/day with strong amplitude. Serviced movement, performs strongly.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original integrated stainless steel bracelet, featuring a handsome flat H-link design that seamlessly flows from the tonneau case. The brushed finish of the links perfectly complements the case top. The bracelet is secured by its original folding clasp, which is prominently stamped with the Rado name and anchor logo. It shows normal, light desk-diving marks consistent with careful wear and accommodates a wrist size of up to 18.5 cm.
Condition
This Rado Ticino is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is the clear highlight, remaining remarkably pristine with no visible damage, spotting, or significant degradation. The stainless steel case and integrated bracelet show honest, age-appropriate wear, including superficial scratches, but retain strong lines and unpolished characteristics. The movement is exceptionally clean and performs with outstanding precision.
