Over the River was an ambitious, large-scale public art project conceived in 1992 by the renowned artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude. It consisted of suspending a total of 9.5 kilometers of silver and translucent fabric panels high above the water, divided into eight distinct zones along a 67.6-kilometer stretch of the Arkansas River in Colorado, USA. However, after a quarter of a century of planning, legal battles, and millions of dollars invested, the project was never realized and was ultimately canceled by the artist himself. in 2017 because it required approval of federal lands managed by the Trump administration.
