Ένα κομψό μπουκαλάκι-μπουκαλάκι από τη Sakaida Kakiemon XIV (1934–2013), ο δεκατετράτος γενιάς εμπειρογνώμονας της οικογένειας Kakiemon και ορισμένος ως Living National Treasure (Φυλακωτής Σημαντικής Άυλης Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς: Iroe Porcelain) το 2001.

Το βάζο διακοσμείται με τον εκλεπτυσμένο ρυθμό γαλάζιου-ενθουσιασμένου σμάλτου Kakiemon πάνω από γυαλιστερή λευκή πορσελάνη, με ένα ζευγάρι πουλιών σίτου ανάμεσα σε χορτάρια. Το καθαρό λευκό σώμα πορσελάνης και η μετριασμένη χρήση χρώματος τονίζουν την κομψότητα για την οποία το έργο Kakiemon είναι διεθνώς γνωστό.

About the Artist

Sakaida Kakiemon XIV (1934–2013) succeeded as the fourteenth-generation head of the Kakiemon family in 1982.

In 2001 he was designated a Living National Treasure (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property: Iroe Porcelain). Throughout his career he received numerous honors, including the Japan Kōgei Association Encouragement Prize, the Minister of Education Award, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, and Honorary Citizenship of Arita. His works were exhibited both in Japan and internationally, contributing greatly to the preservation and development of the Kakiemon tradition.

Background of the Product

Kakiemon ware originated in Arita during the 17th century and is celebrated worldwide for its exceptionally pure white porcelain and elegant asymmetrical overglaze enamel decoration.

The characteristic milky-white porcelain body combined with delicate enamel painting has made Kakiemon porcelain highly regarded by collectors and museums around the world. Bird-and-flower motifs, including the millet bird design featured on this vase, are among the traditional decorative themes of the Kakiemon style.
