Περιγραφή από τον πωλητή

Α inspired by the rugged beauty of weathered stone, this contemporary Japanese 岩化茶碗 (Ganka Chawan, "Rock-Texture Tea Bowl") captures the quiet aesthetics of natural erosion and geological transformation.

The artist has deliberately created a richly textured exterior resembling ancient rock surfaces shaped by wind and water over centuries. Shades of charcoal grey, ash white, and warm earth tones merge organically, giving every angle a different visual character. In contrast, the interior is finished with a calm celadon-grey glaze, creating a peaceful space for appreciating the colour of freshly prepared matcha.

This contrast between the rough exterior and the smooth glazed interior reflects one of the essential principles of Japanese tea aesthetics: finding harmony between strength and serenity, nature and craftsmanship.

The bowl is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed 「岩化茶碗」 (Rock-Texture Tea Bowl). While the artist's signature is present, it is no longer sufficiently legible to attribute the work with certainty. The quality of the pottery, however, clearly reflects the hand of an accomplished contemporary Japanese ceramic artist.

Its generous proportions, substantial weight, and highly tactile surface make it not only an excellent tea bowl for practical use, but also an attractive sculptural ceramic object for display.
