Jack Vettriano is a Scottish painter born in 1951 whose 1992 painting The Singing Butler became a best-selling image in Britain.

Birth of a Dream (1995) is one of seven paintings inspired by the life and achievements of Sir Malcolm Campbell, who gained the world land speed record at various times during the 1920’s and 1930’s. The paintings were originally commissioned by Sir Terence Conran for his Bluebird Club in London.In August 2007, Bluebird at Bonneville, was sold at Sotheby’s for in excess of £600,000, the second highest price ever achieved for a Vettriano at auction.
