Japanese Sword Stand (Katana-kake) - Exquisite Raden (Mother-of-Pearl) Inlay - Landscape Motif (3-Tier)
An exceptional antique Japanese wooden sword stand (Katana-kake) designed to display three swords (Katana and Wakizashi). This stand is beautifully decorated throughout with fine Raden (Mother-of-Pearl / iridescent shell inlay) over a rich dark lacquer finish.
Design & Symbolism:
Main Panel (Landscape): The central panel depicts a traditional Rokaku Sansui (Pavilion and Landscape) scene featuring a traditional multi-story pavilion, serene water currents, and grand Pine trees (Matsu), which symbolize longevity, endurance, and good fortune.
Borders & Pillars: The frame is lined with delicate Chrysanthemum (Kiku) flower patterns, while the vertical arms are adorned with geometric Shippo (Seven Treasures) motifs, symbolizing endless harmony and prosperity.
Base Feet: Adorned with delicate floral scroll medallions that anchor the piece with elegance.
Craftsmanship: The shimmering blue, green, and pink iridescence of the mother-of-pearl shell creates a striking and luxurious contrast against the dark lacquer background. The level of detail in the tiny hand-cut shell pieces highlights the high skill of Japanese lacquer craftspeople.
Dimensions :
Width : approx. 47- 44cm
Height : approx. 41 cm
Depth : approx. 20cm (Please note that measurements are approximate.)
Condition : In very good antique condition. The Raden shell inlay remains remarkably intact with bright, beautiful reflections. Naturally, as an authentic vintage/antique item, there may be slight age-related wear, light lacquer surface scuffs, or minor stress lines, but no major structural defects. Please examine all photos carefully to evaluate the condition.
