Provenance and documentation:
Purchased on 8 January 2007 from specialist dealer Uhrenhandel Deneke (Essen, Germany), documented in the original stamped and signed warranty booklet, which records the model (Blancpain Villeret), reference number (6222-1542-55) and individual case number (No. 240). The case number 240 engraved on the case back matches the booklet exactly. In December 2021 the watch received a movement service at Bucherer Frankfurt (€320), with the original service receipt included.

Brand and model background:
Blancpain, founded in 1735, is the world’s oldest registered watch brand and one of the great names of Swiss haute horlogerie. The Villeret collection — named after the brand’s birthplace — is its purest expression of classical watchmaking, defined by the signature double-stepped bezel and restrained dial design. The Ultra-Slim (Ultraplate) models are the collection’s most elegant pieces: thin, refined automatic dress watches produced in precious metals in limited annual quantities. Within Blancpain’s reference system, the 1542 designation denotes an 18k white gold case, the more discreet and less commonly seen alternative to yellow gold.

Movement service performed by Bucherer Frankfurt in December 2021 (€320, original receipt included). The watch runs and keeps time following this service.

Condition and packaging (this lot):
The watch presents in excellent condition, consistent with single careful ownership since being purchased unworn in 2007: the white gold case retains its sharp double-stepped bezel profile, the dial is immaculate, and the crystal is clear. The lot includes the full Blancpain packaging set — the burl wood presentation box with black lacquered accents, inner watch cushion, Blancpain fabric pouch, outer box and document sleeve — all in very good condition and increasingly hard to find complete.
